Putnam Museum of History and Natural Science

"Mike Smith, Director of the Putnam Museum, recognized that the Museum was renowned for their educational programs.  My role as Development and Marketing Director was to support him with the Capital Campaign.  My role was to give the Museum an image that was less traditional and more entertaining. Committees worked to provide membership events that were "educational and entertaining".  As Director of Marketing and Development, I understand that volunteers and donors determine the success of a campaign. Membership increased, Annual Drive increase, and the Capital Campaign was successful.  People make a difference."

Due to community support and the efforts of many individuals:  Mike Smith, the Director of the Putnam, Putnam Trustees, Putnam Guild, Annual Giving Society, and Exhibit Opening Planning Committee--the Putnam Museum opened the V.O. Figge Natural Science Wing  on May 5, 1995.

It is people in the community that make it possible.

Beth Hodges (right) organized steering committee for Mississippi River exhibition opening.

Sandy (center) and John (right) Mann served as Volunteer Coordinator and Phone-a-rama Chairs.

A mens choir group volunteered to perform. Involvement of community musical groups add to Putnam events.

A special thanks to all the Putnam Guild members who assisted me. Lila Bell accepts program for opening of exhibition.

Barbershop group performs at exhibition opening. Community music provides the background for all opening events.

Members and donors make a different. Events are a way of saying "Thank you for your support."

All exhibition openings have children's activities.
